Any advices how to bring my server to life?
I have had my server for like a week now. DAMN! It's really, REALLY hard to get that start I need. My current most players at the same time is 4. And I have 40 slots.
Please don't get me wrong. It's a rented server. It's stable and all that. My vision is to reach that point when the server barely never reaches -10. Any idea' how to reach decent amount of players to attract even more of them? Because I am standing here waiting with an empty server  Any tips/hints would be good.

You can patch your server binaries to allow nonsteam players (if your host allows it) using Revemu for example. You can download this from:
http://cs.rin.ru/forum/ (forum requires registration) Afterwards you add your server to thenonsteam http://css.setti.info/css masterserverlist. If you dont or cant patch ur server, you could set your server so there will be some bots on the server when there are no players. Because noone likes joining on an empty server. in this case add: bot_quota 4 bot_autovacate 1 bot_quota_mode fill to your server.cfg this means there will be 4 bots on an empty server and for every player that joins a bot is kicked. I can't do the non-steam thing becuase my host won't allow it. Anyway.... I added what you said to the server.cfg but nothing happened

Personally I'd try to get skins that other severs dont usally have...or maybe get the tripmine mod.
People really like Left 4 Dead (2) on CS:S, maybe get those skins? And depending on what you want, and what other people want, maybe use bots. Try asking people that come to your sever what would make it better. Oh, make cool sounds too!
